If you have an emergency to report such as a vicious dog or an animal in distress please call 510-777-3333.

Oakland Animal Services often receives over 100 requests for service per day. Animal Control Officers are responsible for enforcing local animal ordinances, including those regarding the humane treatment of animals. ACO’s investigate all reported bite cases and handle suspected rabid animals. They follow up on reports of cruelty and neglect, and capture and shelter lost and injured animals. They also pick up dead or injured stray pets and wildlife.
